In short...comcast cable (yeah I didn't capitalize thier name)

They Suck!!

cliff notes:
Arrow When I first signed up last year, I had internet problems for 2 months!!
Arrow My cable picture is always going to shits
Arrow My internet connection was down for a week early last month
Arrow My internet connection was down for a week this week due to the cable guy coming out to fix my cable last week...yea he fixed the cable but screwed my internet up.

But, I can calmly say things are finally running smooth again...so much for me trying to be active on this forum all this week.

Thank you everyone, and have a nice day Smile

For high speed internet yes. I'm not about to pay over $100 a month for slow satelite connection.

I know exactly how it feels, mine did so a lot. I would be using it and then it would just go down for no reason and then wouldn't come back up for ages. My ISP advertises Always up Internet, which is a damn lie. And worst then I have to deal with idiots when I call the Customer Service department to report the problem.

Comcast tried to strike again. This time they tried to add another $15 a month to our bill Mad To make a long story short, when we first signed up we had a 6 month cable, 12 month internet promo deal. We came out of our 2 promos as stated...we've had service since June '05. Just now they tried to bump our cable service from $70 to $85 saying we came out of another promo. I was pissed, called to down grade our service to basic cable. We had digital cable with HBO on demand, after the talk we ended up keeping the digital cable with HBO on demand, and Starz, while still only paying $70 a month. Smile

Oh - but wait!

When I signed up for cable/internet last June, I was on a promo with Time Warner for about $65/month. At the end of the promo, my bill was to go up to about $85/month.

Well, about 3-4 months into my promo, COMCAST acquires Time Warner. They honor the 6 month promo and say that they're going to continue to honor Time Warner's prices after that, but after the promo period, my bill mysteriously jacks up to $98 something. Another month or 2 later and I'm paying $103 something!

The service has been fine - that I have no complaints about. However, when I tried to call them asking why my bill went up from 65 to 98/month when I thought it wasn't going to be over 85, they said it's what Time Warner would have charged. Yeah - right.

This was all too ironic though, because I was hired at my current job to be on a team to migrate customers into my company's systems from another company we had just acquired. ANYWAY, now tonight I just received a basic digital cable box because apparently the FCC is forcing them to make all of their customers who are just on analog cable, (yeah I had the basic of basic cable/internet and am paying over $100/month!) switch to digital in order to free up some of the analog lines. That's what their customer rep told me on the phone. I am supposedly not supposed to see a rate increase in my bill for 12 months either.

I have little hope of that statement actually being fulfilled.

I haven't had any of the service problems that you have jax, in fact, their service has been very respectable and almost even appealing - however they are a monopoly for cable in my area right now, as my building doesn't allow satellite - but their rate increases appear completely unfounded and out of the blue.

I do love my new digital features, and my speedy internet connection....but when I saw this topic after the most recent addition to this forum, I just had to contribute to the shared frustrations with this company ;x

Anyway, this was my first official "bitch" post in the drama central section. ;x

I can honestly say that I haven't had any service issues in almost a year now. However, I think I got a mailing stating that unless I have a digital box, I won't be able to view the premium channels. I have one digitial box for my main tv, but the other tvs hooked up in the bedrooms don't. So I guess I won't have HBO for those TVs soon...o well. I guess it's another way for them to try to get more money out of us.

Yeah, I was told I can add another digital box for my bedroom tv for only $1.99/mo more. Sad thing is, I'm kind of tempted to do it. $1.99 isn't that much more for the extra channels and features you get. At least that would be a rate increase by my decision.

Is the $.199 a promo? I can't remember what the rate increase would be if I were to do the same.

No, it's not a promo. You probably have more features/channels ect. The sales rep told me that because my cable package is under 100 channels (although I have much more with digital cable now) that adding another box is only $1.99/month. If I had more channels though, I think it would be somewhere between $3.99-$5.99/new box.

Blol

jax asked!

Besides, the more expensive one is a completely different box all together I think. Really not necessary for what I use.

Kinda makes you wonder whatever happened to the good-ol' days when you could just turn a knob on your TV and get broadcast signals from just a rooftop antenna or "rabbit ears".

What I don't understand is why would people pay for television channels when there's all these Movies & TV show DVDs out that you could just buy and watch whenever you want.

Besides, most of the time there just plain isn't anything on.

So you've got all these channels that you're paying for, and they don't have anything good you'd want to watch. You're better off buying DVDs rather than paying ridiculous prices for cable if you can't get satellite.

potentially - but to buy a single full DVD season of your favorite tv show would cost about as much as one month's worth of cable. It really wouldn't be that much cheaper, and you wouldn't get to see any new episodes while they're still new, or information from the news. Even though I don't really watch that much tv, I think I'd go crazy without some at least the basic channels.

It's more like "for $5.99 extra a month we can jack your bill up even more by providing you the same amount of channels as we used too, what do you say...does it sound like a great deal or what?"
