Aqua is a multi-level high end nightclub and lounge that just opened in downtown Minneapolis end of last March. I randomly ended up at this club last night with a bunch of girls I went to college with. One of them is dating a guy who went in on VIP bottle service with a few of his friends and he invited us all over. Needless to say when we showed up all 9 of us walked right past the block-long line and into our own roped off section on the main floor. None of us had to pay a cover, or for any of our drinks the entire night. I'm not going to lie, it felt pretty sweet to get such awesome service, but I felt kind of guilty with what felt like "budging" in front of all those people who had clearly been waiting for awhile. I can only imagine how much those guys spent on the VIP service!

All that aside, this place was pretty impressive. The entrance itself is mesmerizing with it's water theme and crazy psychedelic aqua walls. The dress code is dress to impress, so all the bouncers are decked out in full suits and ties. Once drawn to the dance floor you not only hear how powerful their sound system is - you feel it - literally, in your chest. Their myspace page brags to have the best light and laser show in all of Minneapolis. I don't think I could argue.

The club has multiple levels, the top being for their highest ranking VIP service which overlooks the grand dance floor below. Several of MN's favorite athletes have been spotted here too, Joe Mauer and Torri Hunter being just a couple.

Aqua also has dancers up on large speakers, counters and yes, even catwalks positioned high above the ground level, right in front of tall windows that over look first ave. I'd hate to know how many calories they're burning in one night!

Despite all the glitz and glam, lights and lasers, the thing I walked away with that night that would probably bring me back again was the music. I really enjoyed the variety that was played and the DJ's style for spinning. It was a great mix that had something for everyone, not to mention a beat that makes everyone want to be out on the dance floor.

If I do go back to this club I might just have to look into the cost of getting a VIP section for the evening, especially if with a large group of friends. Always having a comfortable place to sit when the feet get tired, and never having to wait in line for a drink definitely helped make the night all the more enjoyable.
