Introduction
HotClubForums.com will be running it's 3rd Annual Domain Name Give Away contest from January 1 - 15, 2009. This year's contest will be scaled back a little bit, but will offer prizes for new and existing website owners. Now is the perfect opportunity to establish an identity for your website. With the help of HotClubForums.com, those long sub-domains are a thing of the past.

On January 1, 2009 HotClubForums will bring back it's temporary virtual money system called DP, short for Domain Points. Domain Points can be earned a by posting on the forum. Last year's contest brought some great activity which lead to 2 outstanding forum members winning a .com domain name for either 1 or 2 years. This year, the prizes are much the same, but if you already have a domain name, we will pay for up to an additional 2 years, so you can sit back and enjoy the savings!

This contest will reward the top 2 DP holders by the end of January 15 a fully paid domain name. First place will win a top level domain name for free for 2 years. Second place will win a free domain name for 1 year. All domains will be registered private, so no one will obtain your personal information.

Contest Details

HotClubForums.com will be running a contest to see which 2 members can duke it out for the most DP (Domain Points) from January 1, 2009 to January 15, 2009. The contest will begin 12:01 AM est January 1, 2009 and will run to 11:59 PM est January 15, 2009. The member with the most DP by the end of the contest date will win a top level domain name for free for 2 years. Second place will win a free domain name for 1 year. Once the contest has ended, we will tally up the results to find out who are our top 2 DP holders, and contact them via PM. The top level domain name if available can either end in a .com .net .org .biz .info .biz. .ws .us .co.uk

We have set strict rules against cheating, and have setup various measures to prevent anyone from cheating. This includes:

allowing people to donate DP to you

posting an over obsessive amount of spam

copying and pasting from other sources to earn more DP

Rules and Closing

I'd like to make this contest as fun as possible with hardly any limitations. In short, please don't try to cheat.

Thanks for your question and concern. You might want to give an example. The rules are basically the same as last year, and the same as the current contest we are running. You can always post a link to the source, or quote the source and provide a link. I've never had a problem with any of your posts so far, so I think you know the drill Smile

Sure,

For example hotclubforums.com is a top level domain name. So lets say if you wanted to start a forum of your own, you would get hosting from somewhere. If you didn't have a top level domain name, you would most likely either use a free domain service such as .tk, co.cc, or you would use a subdomain such as yourforum.whatever.com. The problem with those free domains are some have restrictions, some have Ads, and might load slower, and that most people are used to .com, .net. .org domains. The problem with a subdomain is, you don't really have a true identity for your website, and it's longer, so it isn't as easy for visitors to remember.

Are you kidding? I was in bed by 11:30 watching the Dick Clark NYE special on TV because I don't do well in crowds (especially crowds in frozen tundra-like weather), and the next thing I know, I'm watching the Pussycat Dolls at 12:23 AM. I missed setting my clocks! Razz

Less than five hours to go before the Domain Name contest ends. I can almost taste victory. If only my other prize was up and working. Sad

It was fine before, but then this strange error message came and I was like, "What does this mean?"

I will be reviewing the posts since I haven't been around much over the past week, but unofficial we have sexyeyes coming in 1st place with 2081 DP, and spider-man coming in 2nd with 2034 DP. Thanks guys for playing, I will be getting with you shortly.
