Is there anything that your family does every year?

At our house we have always opened one gift on Christmas Eve after church services, dinner. Not from the Santa stash though!

I have started the Elf on the Shelve in my own family, it is a fun thing to do with kids

For Christmas morning, have simple breakfast, and our Christmas dinner later in the day.

At our family Christmas, after lunch we all say one wish to come true for the next year, and it can't be something generic like "World peace" and each person's has to be something different

Then during the afternoon, usually while everyone is gathered after opening presents, each person goes around and says the good things which another family member has achieved over the year.

Usually you do the family member who is the next oldest after you, so for example..

Cousin A - Younger than me: "Luke has obtained a part time job in a workplace which he enjoys, and has also found himself a nice girlfriend."

Me: "Cousin B [next oldest after myself] has achieved outstanding results in her schooling and studies, and has been offered a place in an accelerated subject next year."

It's a really good thing, and enjoyable
