I am going to kill my ISP |
|
|
Well not literally kill them, but I am getting tired of their crappy internet service now, just because I don't have that much choice of an ISP does not give my current one the right to give sub-standard service. Honestly my connect has been dropped twice already for the days, and the first the it was down for over an hour. Honestly, I remember when it used to take about 15 minutes to get a connection and I have ADSL. I am getting rather frustrated, I have had too many problems with this.
I can't even switch because it is more expensive to go with another ISP. At times like this I wish I live in the US or UK or some other place where I had more choices of ISP. |

Okay I have had it with them now, I am calling them first thing in the morning.
This morning I was using it and it went dead. Left and came back I was one for about an hour and then it goes down again, and stays down for about an hour. Its sickening.
I am from Barbados. |

Dang the dark ages of Dial-up. That would drive me insane.
Hey Timeless do you just have the modem, or do you have a modem running connected to a router? I had a problem somewhat similar to this a long time ago when I had ADSL (earthlink). It was working fine for awhile then all of a sudden it kept dropping. I didn't have a router at the time. A week or so later after getting no where with tech support I randomly went out and bought a linksys 4 port router so that I could try it on another PC at the same time. As the result, I had no more dropped connection since then.
It could've been they were sending too much of a signal to my resident which caused a slight overload, the router splitting the signal might have helped. Do you know many feet you are away from your CO? |

I have an Internet Router, got it from my ISP for free.
CO?? Whats that??
I was thinking about getting myself a Linksys router, I have heard they are great. But a friend of mine told me something alarming about my ISP which I will not share here. Also I think that may be the reason for my connections problem.
In the past it would take a long time before it connected, some times up to 20 minutes, I got tired of waiting called them and they sent someone down to fix it, I wasn't home so I have no idea what they did.
I have another router, but I can't use it due to the fact that I kinda lost the password and username that my ISP assigned to me. |

| CO stands for central office. With ADSL you have to be a certain amount of feet within the CO for you to get service. A few years ago it was somewhere around 17,000 to 18,000 feet was the limit, this could have changed. Another thing to know about DSL the speed you get also depends on how far away you are from the CO. The closer you are the faster your connection will be. It's not shared connection like cable (which is a bad thing) but if you live close to the boarder of the limits you most likely will have a slow connection. You should try the linksys router, I've been using them on my home network for years and have been highly satisfied. |

My ISP truly sucks, okay I have this type of internet which is supposed to block the following types of content:
* Adult Material
* Tasteless
* Nudity
* Adult Content
* Violence
* Weapons
* Hacking
* Sex
* Proxy Avoidance
* Militancy and Extremist
* Racism and Hate
* Sport Hunting and Gun Clubs
The thing is that I can see all of those, its link the filter has stopped working. I know that in the past it has come back on, but it didn't take over 2 days. But what am I caring.
My ISP just sucks. |
