Server 13 is finally back up.

Six weeks of information is still missing on it. I really hope they get my archive forum back where it was when the hard drive was damaged.

Forumer has lost my trust. Hopefully other people on the Web realize the problems and avoid that website.

My community still hasn't recovered, and I'm not sure if it will ever get back to normal.

I'm really sorry about all the problems you guys are having. Six weeks worth of data loss really sucks! I remember before I did daily backups over here, 100webspace had a couple days of downtime and other issues. This resulting us loosing 1 days worth of data, and I wasn't happy about that. One day doesn't even come close to 6 weeks, so I can imagine your frustration. I think if you stay positive, your community will be back to normal. From what I've seen, it looks like your members are just happy to be back. There is so much more you can do with your new forum, you could use this advantage to impress or show your members that you care, and want to do what's best for the community.

I'm sorry you had to start over with the posts, but I hope in the long run it will be for the best.

Sorry to hear about your forum. I had an issue with mine at one point & lost about 6 months worth of posts. At first it was hard to regain the members activity but it wasn't long before we had a lot of new posts.
It will be ok Wink

Thank you for the sympathy.

When I first signed up at GreatBoard, they had the user database backup option. I specifically made sure that the option was available in case I wanted to switch to an ad-free paid forum provider sometime in the future.

Forumer took GreatBoard over, and I lost that feature. I had posts on the forum already, and I stayed with Forumer so I wouldn't lose them.

That was a big mistake.

11 months later, I'm starting over again. Forumer would have killed my community eventually, so it was in my best intrerest to risk starting over now.

Hopefully all 160 members come back. I'm very pleased now, so the future of my forum should be bright.

That is the same reason why I went with Greatboard, not because they had a lot of features, not because they were the biggest free forum host, but because they were the only free forum host left that offered free database backups. That was very important to me because I had no experience with running a forum, and I wanted to learn the ropes. I knew I was going to switch to a host that offered free accounts later after I learned the basics. Once renegade5 told me kamejoko was selling Greatboard, I quickly backed up my forum and started to make the switch. Once Craig (second Greatboard owner) said he was selling to Forumer, I tried to warn as many people as possible.

It looks like Forumer has more issues with server 16:

server harddrive failing, working on backup and new harddrives

I feel bad for the users on that server. Hopefully everything turns out well for them. Neutral

That's nothing new for them. They always have problem after problem, I guess that's the only thing you can really expect from them.

I feel bad for the users on that server.

At least they are getting updates and answers to their questions.

Looks like they were told it should have been up yesterday, but it still isn't. Some of the members are getting brutal. You would've thought after the 13 fiasco, you would have thought they would have got their act together.

Recently it seems like a few hosting places have gone down hill. Velocityforums just shutdown a week ago after being hacked, phpbb-host keeps getting hacked. Forumsplace is now charging people to signup a new forum, or subscribe to something, they even force you to pay for support Shocked

It's good that your forum isn't having any major problems, but keep on knocking on wood Laughing

Not again... Sad

Server 13, 17, and now 20? It seems like every server on Forumer has had difficulties.

Hopefully they get it working again soon for the users on it. I can't say that I'm optimistic about that. Neutral
